Clinic Visit 3

Today was another clinic day for me.. It went great.. My PFT"s are up to 48 now.. YEAH!!! The fluid is almost gone off my lungs, however I was wheezy this morning.. Its weird cause my O2 was higher today.. Dr. Cahill said that my lower bases sounded damn good.. I just love her!!
Dr. Pain also stoped in to say hi.. He is the one that gave me the broncoscopy's the whole time that was in the hospital.. He is a great guy too, they always made sure I was as comfortable as possible.. You are supposed to lay flat, well I couldn't lay flat cause I couldn't breathe in that position at the time.. So they always let me have a pillow with the head of the bead tilted up just a bit.. When ever someone tried to lay me flat I would start to panic..
Man tonight my heart burn is back.. Damn this hurts and it just wont go away.. I'm going to call Kelly or Tauna, whoever is working to see if I can take Mylanta, or something else.. My friend that had transplant they had her drink it from the bottle.. So I'm sure they will let me try it.. But I'm still asking before I do drink any..
Tomorrow I a get to go home for a min and pick up my sister.. She is out of school the rest of the week.. Do they ever go to school anymore.. I never had that many days off..
Well I'm going to go now so you all have a great week!!

Love all

Great Weekend!!

This was the first weekend that I have had FREE, with my new life.. My dad came down Friday after work and stayed till Monday.. We just hung out on Friday night, and watched some t.v.. Saturday we ate a huge breakfast (for my weight gain) that filled me up to the top.. It was so good.. Later that day we went to the gym down stairs and we biked a MILE.. Can you believe that I can actually do that now.. yehaa!! We took it easy the rest of the day, I don't want to over due it and pay the price of super sore muscles.. I did that already, it sucks.. Sunday we started the day off with another huge breakfast 100% protein to help me heal better.. We basically ate all day and went on a walk in the apartment building.. This building is huge.. Its on a hill so if you go down the the 1st floor you walk down the hall and all the sudden you will be on the 6th floor.. So Weird!!! I was so confused the first time that I walked that.. I was thinking that these pills really do have an affect, then my mom told me why we had changed levels.. I was relieved to know that I was not crazy and was not lost.. Sunday we just hung out and went on a small walk, I did stretches for the most part of my exercises.. I have to give myself some kind of break, right?..

Monday was another clinic day.. It went well.. I have gained 2 lbs.. Some3 of it is water though.. I did my PFT's and they went from 39 last week to 44 today.. Cool huh!! My x-ray showed that I still have some fluid on my lungs but there is not as much as there was last week.. My heart burn is still there, we changed some things around.. Hopefully that will help.. My blood pressure is a little high.. Not quit in the red zone yet but we are keeping a real close eye on it..

Over all my weekend was super fun and I enjoyed it very much..

Sad for the Sox who lost there game last night.. But they put there heart into it so that's all good.. I'm not really sure who I want to win this years final..

I hope that I am keeping you all updated as you would have hoped.. Feel free to ask anything that I may have left out that yo want to know..

Have a great week

Love all

1st Clinic Day

Today was my first clinic day since my transplant.. It is a long day but I was always doing something so it went by fast.. We got there at 8:45 and went directly to the blood lab so I could get my drug levels drawn.. They were busy today so it took a little bit to get in.. Next we went down so I could do my breathing test (aka as PFT's) they were good.. The last ones I did before transplant my functions were at 16%.. Today they were 39%. They will continue to get better as I heal and build my strength back.. I have not had numbers like that for 5 years or so.. So I was pretty happy about that.. After those were completed I went over to rehab (exercise) and did some walking on the treadmill and some work on the new step.. I was worn out by the end of the session due to sore muscles I have from walking the day before.. My apartment has a workout room that my mom and I go to.. So anyway after my workout I went up and did my chest x-ray.. Then finally made it to clinic.. Everything went smooth.. My x-ray showed that I still have fluid on the right upper lung, which makes me wheezy and my chest will vibrate if I take a deep breath.. That will go away with time and exercise.. Dr. Cahill wants me to eat more.. She says eat meat meat meat.. So that's what I am going to do.. My diet is meat meat meat.. My mom and I got our flu shots.. Mine didn't even hurt.. My mom was a whiny little butt.. She is still whining about it.. Waa Waa Waa I tell her.. I like to tease her for it though.. ha ha ha!!

We got home and ate lunch and then I took a nap.. That was pretty much our whole days events..

Home!!

I am finally home after a month of being in lockup.. It feels so nice to be home and I can do what ever I want when I want.. My mom came up to the hospital this morning to get me.. However we didn't leave till about 4.. I got my feeding tube pulled out.. I told the nurse that I wanted yo do it and she was shocked that I knew how.. Well after 10 years of doing it I told her that I was pro.. We just laughed.. Then I get my pic line pulled out.. That felt nice too.. After having tape on your skin for a while it gets itchy.. The nurses are all scared to take the tape off cause they think that it is going to hurt but its the opposite it feels good..

Kelly the transplant coordinator came in and went over the red book (book all about transplant info) and pills.. I love the whole transplant team they are so great.. After Kelly left Crystal the pharmacist came in and gave me all my meds.. We went over them all and the side affects and everything else that involves pills.. Holy crap are there a lot of pills, but i know that i am going to be faithful at taking them so I am not worried a bit.. My mom is a big part of it too she goes over them with me, so at the same time she is learning them too.. Its like going back to school.. lol

I finally got to see my apartment it is so nice I love it.. It cozy and warm.. My mom and aunt picked it out last week, so it was kinda a rush rush thing. We are on the 4th floor so we get a good view of the capital building.. Its pretty at night..

Well I'm getting tired so I am going to go to bed.. Wright to you all tomorrow..

Last Night In Lockup..

Yes I am still of the O2!! This is so exciting for me.. I have moved to another room.. I am now in the cardiac unit.. The apparently had overfill on critical patients and I was the most stable one so it was me they chose to move.. That's okay though.. This room is a nice room.. Plus I go home tomorrow.. When I was moving down here I was taken off all the monitors for my heart and O2 level.. Their machine was hooked up to the wall so I couldnt get up and move around.. Well down here the stuff is portable.. Its real cool and very convenient.. I don't have to call anyone in every time I have to go to the bathroom or change a movie in the dvd player..

Its real weird some parts of my chest and back are numb but it still itches.. It sucks..

My mom is going to be here early in the morning to meet with the pharmacist and all that kind of stuff.. I hope to get out of here at a decent time.. I cant wait to see my apartment.. My mom and aunt picked it out last week and moved everything in.. My mom will be staying with me for a month then my aunt will come the next month.. They will switch off so they don't get so burned out.. My dad will also come down for a few days at a time..

LOL I am watching the Gremlins.. Do you remember that movie.. Its an oldie..

Well I better go and finish the movie and go to sleep.. I have a big day tomorrow and I need to feel good so I can for sure go home..

Thanks for all your support and prayers.. Love all of you!!

October 12

Hello friends it's me Tanya.. Yes I am finally writing in my own blog again.. Man I have really made progress once I got the vent extabated.. I have been walking laps around the unit, without stopping or being short of breath.. I'm still sore so I cant take a true deep breath yet.. I kinda feel top heavy with these lungs from a 6 foot man..

Sorry this has been a delay at getting this posted. I went to post it and the connection that I had booted me off so I lost all the work that I did.. . I t made me mad so I just shut the computer and went on dong what ever I was doing I don't remember.. LOL I don't remember alot..

Well I have got rid of all my tubes except for my pic line in my arm and my feeding tube.. My feeding tube will be coming out sometime today.. I am even off my O2 and I am dong just fine.. My O2 reading is 94 on room air.. Damn how long has it been since my old lungs were that healthy.. HHMMM a Very LONG time ago..

I am able to do most things by myself now.. I have a hard time bending over though so it will take some time for that to come back.. I have taken 2 showers and they feel so good.. I cant wait to go home and take a real shower.. AAWWW!!

I had a bronchoscopy the other day and I actually watched it.. They are so cool to look at, it is very fascinating.. Dr Cahill explained everything we were looking at.. She is so good to her patients.. She has been there for every bronch that I have had.. I feel so safe having her as a Dr..

My dad and I drank a Pepsi.. My first Pepsi since I have been extabated (taken off vent) It tasted so good.. I toasted a prayer to my buddy Will.. I know that he likes Pepsi and would love to drink one right now.. Will has moved to a center up in Idaho.. He is much closer to his family and friends.. I know that this will do him good..

October 5,2008

Friday the 3rd she got rid of her vent tube. that day they cleaned her up and wanted her to just state in bed and breathe. Saturday she walked all around the nurses station. Made the loop. She did not get winded, did't have to stop at all. Sunday the put a pic in and removed the christmas tree as they call it.

Its a great day. Today they took out what they called the Christmas tree. That is a long 10 inch tube that has multiple ports they use to give medication. That tube is put into the neck and goes to the heart. Thank the Lord that's gone. Friday she was taken off the vent and since then she has really improved. Tanya received her first real food today and she can finally drink what ever she wants. She may be going home next week. Thanks for all your prayers and good thoughts. Tanya will soon be writing to update her progress. This has been quite a journey.

October 2,2008

Good news today, Tanya has been improving ! She is walking the hall almost everyday. She has been breathing on her own for an hour or so at a time. We have been exercising her leg and arms in bed, trying to get them stronger. Today the last drain tube came out and at this very minute the staples are coming out. That will feel good. Tomarrow they plan on taking the vent tube out. We hope they do not have to put it back. She has been sleeping very well except for last night. She was sleepy today or they woud have taken the vent today. They want her well rested because it takes so much energy to breathe on her own. Thanks to all her many friends and well wishers. Thanks for all your positive energy and most of all prayers. She is truly blessed.
